Denver Comic Con 2017: Cosplay Contest, photo shoots, prohibited items, policies and more
There’s less than a week until Denver Comic Con swoops through the city, which means for three days Downtown Denver and the Colorado Convention Center will be swarming with thousands of costume donning fans. Don’t be surprised if you catch Superman munching on a Cheba Hut sub or share the Light Rail with the Sailor Scouts, soon nerds will be taking over the city.

As attendees gear up for DCC’s sixth year of comic con fun, June 30-July 2, it’s important to remember all the rules and guidelines that come with costume wearing and cosplay flaunting at the convention. At the end of the day, remember to respect your fellow attendees and if you see something, say something.
GENERAL COSPLAY RULES
It’s important to remember the Denver Comic Con is a PG-rated event and there will be many children present. As such, Denver Comic Con asks that attendees keep it kid-friendly. Attendees are asked that they wear sports bra-like coverage on top with leotard-type coverage on bottom, so no bare chests, no singlets, no butt cheeks, thongs or "plumber’s butt.” All costumes must provide the required amount of coverage no matter the positioning, that means complete remaining covered when standing, sitting, moving or posing, so make sure you use proper tape, glue and adhesive to hold everything in place.
Protective footwear must also be worn at all time, for your own safety. Things like rollerblades and wheelies are not allowed (check out the full list of prohibited items below). All props must be inspected by Denver Comic Con staff and peace bonded so be sure to find a staff member when you arrive if you have a prop. If your costume requires tons of makeup, fake blood, glitter and body paint that you properly set and seal it before arriving at the convention.
For the full list of Cosplay Rules and Prop Policy, visit Denver comic Con’s official site.
It’s too late to enter, but not too late to enjoy the cosplay fun. On Saturday (7/1) from 7-9 p.m., the annual Cosplay Contest will go down at the Captain Colorado Stage @ Main Events (located in the Bellco Theater). Qualified costume wearers will strut their stuff across the stage and be judged on their craftsmanship. The event will be broken into four categories:
•Kids & Family
**Each category will have a "Runner-Up" and "Best in Division" for craftsmanship and presentation. The very top prize is "Best in Show." Special awards may also be given out by judges.
